    The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has closed the southbound right lane on Renner Road at K-10 for 60 days as part of the Johnson County Gateway Project. The closure will allow KDOT to relocate water lines and to construct the bridge pier in that area. The left lane will remain open through construction.

    The Olathe Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund campaign has raised an astonishing $175,000, far exceeding its $140,000 goal for 2014. 

    Mayor Michael Copeland praised the generosity of the community in setting a new record for community giving. “Every donation to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, no matter how small, represents a priceless gift of encouragement and hope to a hurting child or struggling family in need.  I am so proud of the caring, giving hearts in Olathe, and I speak for every dedicated member of our Board in saying thank you to our community,” he said.

    Olathe Parks & Recreation is partnering with Olathe Medical Center to offer the first Wellness Wednesday at the Olathe Community Center, 1205 E. Kansas City Road, on Jan. 28 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. The program will offer free community education classes from Olathe Medical Center the last Wednesday of each month.  The January topic is Diabetes Education.

    The Olathe Community Center will host a business open house from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30. The open house provides an opportunity to visit the center and learn about rental options for hosting meetings or corporate events.
