Youth Programs

The City of Olathe continues to maintain a strong partnership with the Olathe School District in fostering the growth of Olathe's youth.  Youth programs that the City of Olathe participates in not only work to grow our students educational opportunities, but also help students discover what the City of Olathe does for them and their family on a daily basis.  The goal is to help Olathe's youth become informed and active citizens in the community.  Olathe's youth programs consist of the following:

  • Teen Council (This program provides an opportunity for a select number of Olathe's high school students to grow as leaders, become more civically engaged, and serve their fellow students)
  • "Learning about Olathe" - 3rd Grade Program (This program started in 2006 and brings 1/3 of all Olathe's 3rd graders to City Hall for a Mock City Council Meeting and other activities for the students to learn about their city)
  • Youth Programs by City Departments (Departments like Police, Fire, Parks & Rec and Budget conduct youth programs throughout the year that educate Olathe students about issues in our community and about Olathe's history)
