City of Olathe, Kansas

Membership in the Olathe Sister Cities Association

What do I have to offer the Association?
Anyone who is committed to the ideals of the Association can contribute just by being a vocal supporter of the Association and its goals. Olathe Sister Cities Association (OSCA) Ambassadors may be called upon to greet foreign visitors to make them feel welcome in both Olathe and our country. Help is always needed with fundraising and with planning and carrying out sister cities projects and events. Student ambassadors are also welcome and encouraged to participate in sister cities programs.

What do I get out of being a member?
Ambassadors have the opportunity to meet and enjoy the fellowship of others, like themselves, who want to do what they can in their own
community to foster peaceful relations in the world. In being involved in OSCA events, Ambassadors learn more about different cultures by meeting international visitors and learning from them. Some have had the opportunity to host international visitors in their homes and create longstanding friendships with their guests. Ambassadors can take great satisfaction in participating in many activities which increase community awareness of the benefits of sister city and friendship city relationships on personal, educational, and economic levels. The OSCA Newsletter keeps Ambassadors and the community informed and involved in sister cities news and activities.

Why pay dues?
Association dues and donations supplement City funds and are used for various sister cities programs, including hosting sister city and other international guests, sponsoring student and adult exchanges and supporting international activities in the community.
