Residential Building Inspections

Residential Construction

In order to best serve our customers, Building Inspectors perform inspections Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The following residential inspections are required:

  • Footing
  • Foundation
  • Backfill
  • Plumbing/Electrical/Mechanical Underslabs
  • Garage Floor Slabs
  • Basement Floor Slabs
  • Fireplace (masonry only)
  • Sewer Service Line–From Building to Main Tap (Call Utilities: 971-9311)
  • Electrical (Temporary Service for Construction Trailer/Site) – separate application of the building permit – misc electrical application needed.
  • Complete Gas Pressure
  • Rough-In (All framing, concealed plumbing, electrical, HVAC)
  • Nail pattern prior to stucco application
  • Firewall separation – nail patterns
  • Portal Garage – nail patterns
  • Final Approvals – Required of both building inspector and residential project inspector to obtain Certificate of Occupancy or Temporary Certificate of Occupancy

Special inspections or after-hours third party inspections are acceptable. Check with staff on specific allowable categories.

Scheduling Inspections

Please allow one half day notice for scheduling – call before 11:30 am for an afternoon inspection. Call before 4:00 pm to schedule for next morning.

Full Rough-In and Finals require a minimum of one day lead time (inspection scheduling is based on space available). Re-Inspections on the Rough-In and Finals also require a minimum one day lead time (inspection scheduling is based on space available).
