A residential building permit is needed for the following improvements:
- New Single Family Residence or Duplex Units
- Room Addition
- Interior Remodel
- Other: Garage (Attached/Detached), Carports, Sheds (over 200 SF), Decks (above 30"), Deck with a roof covering, Patio roof covering, Gazebo, Pools (In-ground & Above ground).
In order to obtain a residential building permit, the following information must be submitted for review and approval:
- Residential Building Permit Application
- Two copies of original sealed plot plan/survey of lot
- Two copies of original sealed construction plans (unless established as a Master Plan)
- Johnson County Sewer Permit (if served by JCWW)
- Plan Review Fee (Check payable to City of Olathe, based on new plan or subsequent plan).
Timing
It is our policy to review and return comments for residential builidng permits within 3 working days (beginning the first working day after submittal). Incomplete applications or incorrect information may delay plan review and permitting.
