Updated information regarding Initiatives to Address Resident Concerns in Prairie Haven Subdivisions

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE-  Your Plan, Your Future Planning for Olathe's future is underway with an update to the City's Comprehensive Plan.  The Comprehensive Plan is the official statement of the City setting forth the goals and vision for future growth and development, and directly or indirectly affects residents' transportation, parks and green spaces, housing choices, community economic issues, and other areas.

The update to the Comprehensive Plan will help shape Olathe’s long-term quality of life.  We need to hear what kind of community you want Olathe to be.  Residents are invited to participate in a series of public workshops throughout the winter and spring.  The first of these workshops are scheduled for early January:
Wednesday, January 7, 2009              6-8 pm             Olathe Northwest High School
Wednesday, January 7, 2009              6-8 pm             Oregon Trail Junior High School
Thursday, January 8, 2009                  6-8 pm             Olathe East High School
Thursday, January 8, 2009                  6-8 pm             Olathe South High School

At these initial workshops, residents will be able to identify key issues that the plan should address, and share their vision for the community’s future.  Future workshops will build upon the input received to create a number of alternatives for the future growth of the community.

In addition to the public workshops, a plan website is available for direct citizen input.  At www.planolathe.com you can explore plan topics, learn about the update process, find upcoming workshops and meeting dates, provide feedback, and more.  For more information about these events or the Comprehensive Plan update process, or if you would like a presentation on the Comprehensive Plan update at your group or organization meeting, you can contact the Department of Development Services at 913-971-8750 or planolathe@olatheks.org.
