Training Committee Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Olathe CERT Training Committee to provide the skill sets necessary for our members through meaningful quality training opportunities while also insuring that the membership is prepared for deployment in an emergency.

2012 Training Opportunities

January:

     -  The First Annual Olathe CERT Awards Reception:  Invitations will be sent out.  Please make an effort to attend this event and meet your fellow CERT members.

February:

        -  New Basic CERT coarse to be offered the last week of this month.  Stay tuned and encourage your friends to become better prepared when a disaster strikes. 

    -  Feb. 16th:  CPR training 9-noon.  For more information see CPR

    -  Feb. 22nd: First week in basic CERT class

     - Feb 25th: ICS 700 and ICS 22 through MRC at the MARC building.  See http://www.mrckc.org/email/IS100-700_2012.htm for more info

    -  Feb. 29th:  second week of basic CERT class

March:

     -  March 7th:  Third week of basic CERT class

     -  March 14th: Fourth week of basic CERT class

     -  March 15th: CPR training 5-8 pm. For more information see CPR

     -  March 21st:  Fifth and final week of Basic CERT class.  Scenario.  

     -  March 24th: Olathe CERT will have a booth at the LDS Preparedness Fair.  Socialization will organize this event.

     -  March 31st: VRC (Volunteer Reception Center) drill with the local VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in a Disaster) Need a strong Olathe CERT representation.  More Information forthcoming.

     -  Olathe CERT is working on bringing in a specialist to assist teaching a "Moulage" class.  This will be open to all organizations which hold drills.  It is our intension to encourage half a dozen organizations to attend this drill so we can share the moulage needs of all organizations. 

April:

     -  CERT Basic First-Aid Refresher - More info forthcoming

     -  April 19th: CPR training 9-noon.  For more information see CPR

     - Olathe CERT to run a First Aid station at the 5K and fun run

May:

      - May 17th: CPR training 5-8 pm. For more information see CPR

June:

      - June 21st: CPR training 9-noon.  For more information see CPR

      - ICS 300 through MRC at the MARC building,13-15th. This is a selective registration only class. Contact Bevely Wilson: bwilson@marc.org .

      - June 30th, 1-5 pm at the Fire Admin building; Communication Orientation Class.  Send in CERT application to enroll in class.

July:

      - CERT Communications Class:  This will be designed to fulfill the Olathe CERT Training Levels Program

      - July 19th: CPR training 5-8 pm. For more information see CPR

     - July 21st, ECSI certified First Aid class with an enphasis on CERT training. More information to come.

August:

     -  Aug. 16th: CPR training 9-noon.  For more information see CPR

September:

     -  Old Settlers:  Olathe CERT will again have a booth at this 3 day event.  Socialization or organize this event

     -  Sept. 20th: CPR training 5-8 pm. For more information see CPR

     -  Possible full-scale drill this month - Needs assessment and capabilities list has not been completed on this yet.

October:

     -  Oct. 13th: The first MARC metro-wide CERT Rodeo will be held this month.  More infor forthcoming: Please save the date when it comes  out for this meaningful and fun event.  It will be worth it.
