About Olathe...
Olathe is located 20 miles southwest of Kansas City. The city covers an area of more than 56 square miles and is home to 21% of the county's residents. Since 1990, the population of Olathe has nearly doubled. It is the fifth largest city in the state, with a population of more than 114,000 people.
Olathe's Recreation division maintains more than 4,200 acres of park and trail land. This land is divided into 17 neighborhood parks, 14 community parks, 7 district parks, and 27 miles of bicycle and walking trails. Olathe has 2 public lakes with a combined total of more than 200 acres of water surface.
Since the 1980's, the number of single-family homes and multi-family units has more than tripled. The median age of Olathe's population is just under 31 years, including many young families. The Olathe School District covers 75 square miles and consists of 30 elementary schools, 8 junior high schools, and 4 senior high schools. Among other achievements, test scores in Olathe schools rank in the top 10% of the nation. The city has a high percentage of educated residents, with approximately 40% of residents 25 years or older possessing a bachelor's degree or higher.

In 2003, the Olathe GIS Division received the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award from Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). (City of Olathe SAG award page)
Through this web site, users can view information about the City of Olathe, including detailed information about public and private property and elements of the city infrastructure. The interactive mapping applications can be used to view and create custom maps based on spatial information provided by the Olathe GIS Division and Johnson County's Automated Information Mapping System (AIMS). These map products can be viewed, printed, or downloaded by citizens and other users. Use of this information is subject to the guidelines described in the accompanying Terms of Use statement.
