Learning

We believe learning and growth are foundational to building an adaptive, agile and engaged workforce.  In addition to offering traditional training opportunities, we continually look for ways to bring learning to our workforce in unique and creative modes.  As part of our commitment to on-going employee learning, we created Olathe University, enabling our employees to improve their skills, knowledge, and abilities based on their unique needs.

 

On-Boarding

In Human Resources, we believe in creating a positive employee experience from the moment an individual accepts a position with the City.  Through our On-Boarding process we ensure that employees are engaged early and often and get the support they need to quickly get up to speed on how the City operates.  Our On-Boarding does not end at New Employee Orientation - we continually seek opportunities to help new employees feel welcomed, engaged, and quickly become a part of the Olathe family.

 

Process Improvement

Action-oriented learning and the ability to continually improve our processes is a key tenet to provide excellence in public service.  Human Resources provides Process Improvement expertise across all City departments.  By creating a methodology that blends the best practices in Process Improvement and Action Learning AND providing strong facilitation, we enable internal departments to have the right dialogue, using the right tools, at the right time.  As a result, internal departments are equipped to continually identify and act on improvement opportunities.

 

Internal Consulting

Like the early settlers to Olathe, the City is continually looking towards the future to help set strategy and tactics for how we operate.  As a City, we continually looks for ways to build, grow, and support a culture that is balances our current needs with our strategies for growth.  Human Resources provides the City with top, internal seasoned business consultants to help shape the strategies and actions required to support growth and change in our culture.
