Olathe Community Garden Partnership Growing Healthy Food Donations

Post Date:02/27/2017 12:00 PM
The Olathe Community Garden Partnership donated over 10,000 pounds of fresh garden produce to local food pantries and community dinner programs in 2016.

Donations from participating gardens to Olathe’s local food pantries and community dinners make it possible for charities to offer fresh produce to complement the canned and boxed food typically received as donations.

“We are so grateful to our community garden partners. Because of their generosity, Olathe families had access to fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables that aren’t always a staple on food pantry shelves,” said Liz Newman, Senior Horticulturist.

The Olathe Community Garden Partnership was created in 2013 with a mission to build community awareness by increasing and enhancing area community gardens through education, networking, support, and outreach.
