Preserved as a public historic site, the Mahaffie home is the only stagecoach stop remaining on the Santa Fe Trail!

Friends of Mahaffie

As one of the most unique historic sites in the bi-state area, the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm serves as a centerpiece to the region's history.  The stone farmhouse built by James and Lucinda Mahaffie in 1865 served as a stagecoach stop on the Westport Route of the Santa Fe, Oregon, and California Trails. Listed on both the National and Kansas Registers of Historic Places, the Mahaffie Historic Site is also recognized by the National Park Service as an official component of the Santa Fe National Historic Trail.

Join us in caring for this survivor from the days of the western trails! The Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm Foundation is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, created in 1998. Your membership in the Friends of Mahaffie supports our public programming, and the preservation of this important historic site. Mahaffie is now on the threshold of a new and exciting era, with the Heritage Center and Living History programs developed, it is vital to continue supporting expanded programs and open hours. Along with your membership, please consider volunteering for events, programs, and daily activities at Mahaffie.

All of our Friends of Mahaffie receive a Family Season pass ($55 value) which entitles you to free admission to Mahaffie Historic site, including the annual Wild West Show. During free admission events  like the 19th Century Independence Day, Christmas Open House and Thursday evenings in June and July, the Season Pass also entitles you to free stagecoach rides and free craft activities which would carry a separate charge. The Family Season Pass also entitles you to a 10% discount in our gift shop and an invitation to the special Santa Breakfast in December.

All of our Friends are listed in our newsletter (published twice a year) and electronic notices and reminders of site activities and events.
