Oregon Trail Park Rededication May 9th

Through the voter approved park sales tax and a partnership with Johnson County Public Works and Olathe Youth Baseball, Oregon Trail Park has undergone a renaissance. The park was rededicated at 2:00 p.m. on May 9th. It is located on the southwest corner of Dennis Avenue and South Robinson.

The $3.4 million project included a complete renovation of the ball fields, new play opportunities, walking trails, sand volleyball courts and reconstruction of the park's pond. In addition, the park will feature one of the region's most comprehensive "green" parking lot and detention projects. The lot uses pervious concrete that allows stormwater to filter through the concrete rather than creating runoff. The water filters through a wetland and into the detention pond, cleaning the water before it leaves the park.

The rededication included dignitaries throwing out the "first pitch" to members of Olathe Youth Baseball teams.
