Thirteen-Year-Old Teaches Country to Spell O-L-A-T-H-E

As if being singled out by Money Magazine, Forbes and the New York Times wasn't enough, the entire country is being exposed to Olathe thanks to thirteen-year-old Kavya Shivashankar. Kavya became the fist Olathean ever and first Kansan since 1978 to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Before a national television audience on ABC, Kavya spelled her way to victory. She is now being featured on national broadcasts on every major network and national "late" shows. A Friday morning Google News search found over 70 feature stories in ten different languages. Kavya's entry was sponsored by The Olathe News.

On a side note, Microsoft Word spell check doesn't even know how to spell "laodicean".
