City of Olathe solid waste customers are NOT impacted by Johnson County’s new trash plan, effective January 1, 2012.  There will be no changes for City of Olathe trash, yard waste, recycling and bulk pick-up collection.

Olathe residents’ success in recycling is behind the agreement between the City of Olathe and Johnson County, which exempts the City of Olathe’s participation in the new plan. More than 35 percent of Olathe’s trash is diverted from the waste stream following the start of the citywide recycling service in 2010. Johnson County plans to enact the new trash plan with a goal of diverting 30 percent of trash from the landfill.
