Tickets are still available for the popular Fall Cemetery Tours, but they are selling quickly.
The tours provide the opportunity to learn more about the historic Olathe Memorial Cemetery from Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site staff dressed in 19thcentury clothing. Tours start at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13.
The theme for this year’s tours will be William Quantrill’s raid of Olathe on Sept. 7 1862. His band killed six men, looted Olathe businesses and damaged two Olathe newspaper offices.
Tour participants meet at Northview Elementary School, 905 N. Walker Ln. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Mahaffie, 1200 Kansas City Rd. or by calling 913-971-5111. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for children ages 5 to 11.
