Fire Open House Showcases Department

The Olathe Fire Department Open House featuring free educational activities, demonstrations and refreshments will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at Olathe Fire Station No. 1, 501 E. Old Hwy 56.

Activities for children and families include spraying water from a real hose, fire engine and station tours, meeting “Sparky” the talking robotic fire dog, hearing from experts about fire and life safety, emergency preparedness and the Community Emergency Response Team, as well as crash rescue and bomb squad demonstrations. Olathe Police Department officers also will conduct child car seat safety checks.
