Access to some Olathe trails and parks will be limited starting this week.
Eastbrooke Trail from S. Hagan Street to S. Widmer Street will be closed for bridge repair from Monday, Oct. 8 to Saturday, Oct. 20. A detour will be posted to Rene Street. The City will be working on a section of Mahaffie Creek Trail between Nelson Road and Parkway Drive for the next few weeks to mitigate a stormwater issue. The trail won’t close, but minor route changes will be posted.
As the City prepares to break ground for the Olathe Community Center at Stagecoach Park in mid-November, there will be limited access to the park. Olathe Parks and Recreation Department crews will start relocating trees and benches, and removing lighting and power from the shelter area. The park will be closed during construction of the community center, which is schedule to be complete in spring 2014.
Olathe’s Parks and Recreation staff monitors all 32.1 miles of park trails daily. Cracks are fixed annually and trail surfaces are sealcoated every five to seven years.
