The summer season officially begins at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm, 1200 Kansas City Road, on Friday, May 24. Enjoy living history activities and stagecoach rides from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays.
Beyond regular hours, Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm offers many special events throughout the summer.
Family Fun Nights – Mahaffie is open 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday nights in June and July. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities focused on a historic theme. This event features free admission; special activities like stagecoach rides are $2/person. Themes include: Horse Power - June 6; Civil War – June 13; Hit the Trails! - June 20; Kansas Cowboys – July 11; Kansas Wheat Harvest - July 18 and Fun on the Farm - July 25.
19th Century Fireworks and Olathe Civic Band Concert - Thursday, June 27; 6:00 p.m.
Join the Olathe Civic Band for a concert at 7:30 p.m. followed by 19th century fireworks by the Olathe Fire Department. Show your American pride and bring your decorated bike/stroller/wagon. Bring your lawn chairs, blanket and picnic dinner to enjoy this patriotic celebration. Fireworks will begin at dark. Free admission; special activities like stagecoach rides are $2/person.
Day Out with Frank and Ella – Preschools, daycares, and other youth groups or individuals are invited to attend these drop-in summer fun sessions. Sessions are Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon or Thursdays from noon to 3:00 p.m. in June and July. Participants will enjoy a different theme each week with hands-on activities, crafts and a stagecoach ride (paying youth only). Registration is encouraged but not required.
