Water Treatment Facilities Receive Peak Performance Award

The City of Olathe has once again earned Silver Peak Performance Awards for both the Cedar Creek and Harold Street Wastewater Treatment facilities from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) .

Upcoming Lane Closures on 119th and 151st: Expect Delays

Beginning this Friday (8/23) around 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday (8/26), eastbound and westbound 119th Street will be reduced to one lane for repairs to the 119th Street bridge over Old Kansas City Road. Lanes will be reduced eastbound 119th Street west of Renner Blvd. to I-35 and westbound 119th Street east of I-35 to the Old Kansas City Road ramp.

127th Street Opens to Traffic from Black Bob to Olathe East on August 20th

Mother Nature has finally cooperated, and 127th Street from Black Bob to Olathe East will be open to traffic one lane in each direction beginning August 20th. Please be aware that this is still a construction zone, and drivers are reminded to abide by posted speed limits and travel safely. Traffic officers will continue to be present at the access drive to Olathe East throughout the duration of this week.

Please Drive Carefully as School Resumes

The City of Olathe reminds drivers to slow down and use caution near schools as students return to the classroom this week. 

Olathe Public Schools students in first through sixth grades and ninth graders start with a half day Wednesday, August 14. The first full day of school for all K-12 students starts Thursday.

Mahaffie Featured on National Geographic Channel’s “Diggers”

Metal detecting enthusiasts “King George” Wyant (KG) and Tim “The Ringmaster” Saylor (Ringy) travel across the country uncovering lost pieces of American history on National Geographic Channel’s Diggers.  So what brings them to Olathe?  On a journey across Kansas, KG and Ringy visit Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm on a quest to uncover historical artifacts along the Santa Fe Trail. 

127th Street to Remain Closed through Start of School Year

Due to the inclement weather Olathe has experienced in recent weeks, construction on the 127th Street improvements has been delayed, and the street will not be open to traffic by the start of school on August 14th as originally expected.

Olathe Parks and Recreation Foundation to Host Duck Race

The Olathe Parks and Recreation Foundation will host the first Duck Race to raise funds for recreation scholarships.  The race will take place at Black Bob Bay on Sunday, August 25 at 3:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for first place (2014 family pool season pass), second place (Chiefs tickets), slowest duck and a consolation duck draw.
