Stranded cars may have been towed yesterday, Feb. 21, to make room for emergency responders and snow plows.

Morning update on Feb. 22

Solid Waste Services Resume Feb. 22

Solid Waste service for trash, recycling and bulk items will begin today, Feb. 22,  in areas on the regular Thursday collection schedule. Thursday collection routes will be serviced into the weekend, if necessary.

Significant Snowfall Impacting Residential Progress

With a break in snowfall, City snow operations have made enough progress for residential units to begin heading back into neighborhoods.  Crews will be working through the night, and residents are asked to be patient as crews tackle over 1,200 lane miles and 1,500 cul-de-sacs.  Residential units are smaller vehicles and snow removal progress will be substantially impacted by the high volume of snow.  Larger trucks will serve residential areas as available.

Snow Removal Directed to Arterial Streets

Due to the volume of snow, all crews plowing residential areas have been redirected to arterial streets to assist emergency responses. 

Stranded Vehicles on City Streets

Plowing has been significantly hampered by the number of stranded vehicles on city streets, and the City continues to strongly urge residents to avoid driving if at all possible. 

Vehicle Accident Reports on Feb. 21

The Olathe Police Department is asking drivers involved in non-injury accidents to exchange information and walk-in to the Police Department today or report the accident at a later date.

Municipal Court Canceled Feb. 21

Olathe Municipal Court has canceled all dockets for Thursday, February 21.  Those scheduled for this date will receive a notice in the mail with a new court date. 

City Solid Waste Operations Discontinued Feb. 21

City trash collection has been discontinued for Thursday, Feb. 21.  The Transfer Station and Household Hazardous Waste Site is also closed for operations on Feb. 21. Please check back for additional information as it becomes available.
