This second in a series of ornaments features the Kansas School for the Deaf and their 150th anniversary. The 2010 ornament, featuring the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm, is also available this year. Ornaments are $12 each and are available for purchase at Feeney's Hallmark, the Mayor's Office, the Mahaffie Heritage Center, and United Office Products in Olathe. Proceeds benefit the Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund. Throughout the year, and especially during the holiday season, our thoughts turn to the many, many blessings we enjoy as a community and to the charities who work tirelessly to give hope and encouragement to those less fortunate. For many years, the Olathe Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund has supported those charities that help us meet the most critical needs in our city. Our 2011 Fund beneficiaries are: CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children)
Our community needs this year are greater than ever, and our 2011 campaign goal is $80,000. For more information about our beneficiaries, please see our Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund brochure. You can also contact the Mayor's Office at 971-8500 or by email. Our campaign period is October 1 - December 31 each year.
Thanks to the tremendous generosity of the Olathe community and the commitment of our dedicated Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund Board, the 2010 Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund campaign was the most successful in our history. We exceeded our campaign goal of $65,000, with donations totaling $73,584.65! Our Board is deeply grateful to everyone who helped us achieve this amazing goal, and their names are listed in this thank you to our donors.
The Olathe Public Schools 2010 “Pennies for Shoes” campaign raised $7,446.34 to support the Children's Shoe Fund, demonstrating the intergenerational spirit of giving that is growing with the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund in our community.
Our Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund Board is comprised of dedicated community leaders and friends, and we invite you to support the charities who serve Olathe children and families. In these difficult economic times, your caring donation will make a significant impact! Your contribution will help us touch the lives of countless Olathe children, giving them hope for a brighter tomorrow. And, it's important to know that 100 percent of the Fund proceeds stay right here in our community!
