Electronic Billing

The City of Olathe now offers free electronic bill notification and presentation for those citizens who prefer electronic records to paper ones.  If you sign up for E-Billing you will receive an email with a link to your online account log-in page when your bill is generated each month.  You will no longer receive a bill through the mail.

To receive this free service you will need to sign up for an online account if you have not already done so.  To sign up for a free online account you will need your latest bill statement.  Enter the account number and your name as they are on the bill statement.  In addition to your regular billing information your online statement will have your water usage history for the past year and you will have the ability to pay for your account online if you choose.

If you already have an online account you can just log in to your account.  Once you are in your bill presentation screen, there will be a link to the left that is titled "Paperless Billing".  Click on that link and it will take you to a page that explains how to sign up for E-Billing. 

Certain features are only available to our customers via the online account.  Starting with the June 2009 statement your bills will be archived and reachable from your personal account page.  Eventually this archive will build until you will be able to access 18 months of previous bills, but statements before June 2009 are not available with this application. In addition usage is presented in both cubic feet and gallons in the online bill. 

Automated recycling reminders:  A new feature has been recently added to the online account to help customers remember which day to roll their recycling cart to the curb.  With the every other week pick up of recyclables it is easy to get confused as to whether this is your week for pickup or not. Online customers can sign up for an email reminder the day before their recycling is to be picked up.  When you sign into your online account, select Account Settings from the left hand menu.  At the bottom of account settings box is a check box that asks "Send recycling reminder e-mail?".  When you select the box you will be automatically set to receive reminder emails the day before your recycling is due to be picked up.  If, after a few weeks or months, you don't believe you want the reminder anymore, simply go back to Account Settings and deselect the box and the automated reminders will stop.

Some citizens have asked about the requirement to show a city utility bill at the landfill, transfer station or Household Hazardous Waste site before receiving services at those places.  The online E-bill can be printed and it will be an acceptable replacement for the postcard bill.

The City of Olathe site is secure and citizens contact information will not be shared with any third party organizations.
