Household Hazardous Waste

The City of Olathe operates a year-round program for all Johnson County residents to safely dispose of  Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) at no charge.  No commercial waste is accepted.

Wed, Thurs & Fri - 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
1st, 3rd, & 4th Saturdays - 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

HHW Drop-Off:
2nd Saturday of each month, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
No appointment necessary.
E-Waste is not accepted.


The HHW Drop-Off event is a drive-thru system.

Provide the following before unloading:

  • Your photo ID
  • General Description of your HHW

Label  products not in their original containers.

City employees will unload the HHW from your vehicle.

E-waste Recycling Program

Johnson County residents can recycle old household computers, televisions, and other small electronics.  

E-waste items are not accepted at the HHW Drop-Off Event.

  • Solvents
  • Stains/varnishes
  • Wood preservatives
