The Olathe Police Department's Communications Unit is the first point of contact for emergency services (police, fire and ambulance) in the city of Olathe. In incidents where fire or ambulance response is required, the call is relayed to the Johnson County Emergency Communications Center.

The Communications Unit is also responsible for animal control calls that require an Animal Control Officer to be dispatched to a residence or place of business. For other animal control assistance the public should contact the Animal Control Shelter at 913-971-6362.

The Communications Unit is works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
