Carjacking

You can be attacked by a carjacker:

  • in broad daylight
  • during rush hour
  • at intersections
  • in traffic
  • in a parking lot

 

Tips to protect you and your car:

  • Roll up your windows and lock your doors.
  • Don’t allow a crook to jump in an unlocked passenger door.
  • Don’t ask questions if someone tries to jump into your car.
  • Drive away quickly but safely!
  • Store your valuables out of sight.
  • Don’t get trapped in a traffic lane.
  • Allow an escape route.
  • Leave at least one car length between you and the car in front.
  • Trust your instincts.
  • Don't exit your car to examine damage.
  • Stay in your locked vehicle if you feel suspicious.
  • Drive to a safe public place if you feel suspicious.
  • Remain at the scene of a serious accident.
  • Remain at the scene if you are injured.
