What is the Current Value of Olathe's Street Network?

The City of Olathe's streets are an asset worth over $1 billion in replacement value made up of over 1,200 lane miles. The Street Preservation Program is designed to preserve the pavement already in place and prevent it from deteriorating to the point where a full reconstruction may be required. A full reconstruction is significantly more expensive than other preventative maintenance techniques.

The chart below shows the current lane miles and replacement value of Olathe streets by type. The replacement value is calculated based on $1 million per lane mile to reconstruct arterial streets, $1.1 million per lane mile to reconstruct collector streets, and $850,000 per lane mile to reconstruct local streets.
