Olathe Community Earth Day Event

April 22, 2010 is the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. To celebrate, the City of Olathe and the Olathe Chamber of Commerce are hosting a community Earth Day Event at the Corporate Ridge Business Park (K-10 and Ridgeview).

The City of Olathe Development Review Continual Improvement Committee (DRC) will host the Good Neighbors and Good Stewards of the Earth presentations at HealthRidge Fitness Center located at 17800 West 106th Street from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.  Presentations will include Sustainability at the Regional and County levels, The City of Olathe Facilities Conservation Improvements Program and How to Use Less and Save More at Home and at Your Business.  Breakfast will be available for purchase from 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. at the Healthy Living Café within the HealthRidge Fitness Center.  A menu can be downloaded at the following website:  http://www.healthridgefitness.com/index.php/cafe.  HealthRidge will be providing café coupons to guests.  In addition to the morning events, the DRC invited the Johnson County Master Gardeners to host a hands-on composting presentation at 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Intrust Bank located at 18225 West 106th Street.

Activities from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. include vendor booths highlighting green products and services, Farmer’s Market, document shredding, gas cap checks, and Hy-Vee barbecue for $5 per person.

At 6:30 p.m., drop by the Olathe Library, 201 E. Park, to find out how Olathe has grown greener over the last for decades.
