Adopt-A-ParkAdopt a Park

  • Several district elementaty, middle, and high schools participate in the Adopt-A-Park program
  • These programs range from year-round activities to individual projects
  • Activities include landscape installation & maintenance, and park & stream clean-up

Camp Rolling Along

  • Olathe Parks & Recreation and Olathe Public Schools partner to provide various summer camp opportunities for Olathe youth with disabilities
  • Camp Rolling Along is offerred for children who use wheelchairs as their primary mode of transportation.
  • City & School District provide staff and staff training opportunities
  • City recreation staff provides programming and transportationIntramurals

Crossing Guard Program

  • The City Parks & Recreation department provides for and manages the contract to supply crossing guards at elementary schools throughout Olathe.
  • The Department works closesly with the Public Works & Police Departments to provide compreshensive oversight in providing this valuable safety service for the community
  • City coordinates & funds crossing guard services at 40 locations where crossing guards are warranted

Intramural Sports Programs

  • Intramural basketball and volleyball program is co-sponsored by the Olathe Public Schools and the City
  • The program provides an environment that emphasizes fun, safety, participation for all, skills development, and the proper attitude toward competition. Emphasis is placed on the values that best serve the participants.

Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Historic SiteMahaffie

  • Works with School District to bring 1/3 of all Olathe 4th graders to the Heritage Center each year for a special Kansas Day program
  • Continues to serve Olathe schools through regular education programs
  • Provides a learning station as part of the "Learning about Olathe" 3rd Grade Program at City Hall

Special Olympics

  • Co-sponsored by the City of Olathe and Olathe Public Schools
  • City provides staff, programming, volunteers, and transportation
  • District provides facilities free-of-charge
