The City of Olathe's Community Development Block Grant program has funded housing rehabilitation programs, public services, public improvements and neighborhood revitalization projects that benefit low and moderate income persons or older neighborhoods since 1975.
The City is inviting applications from local social service agencies and commuity organizations that provide a service to Olathe citizens that meet one of the national CDBG objectives.

The City's swimming pools will officially open Saturday, May 24, marking the beginning of a new swim season.
The pools will be open from 12:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. weekdays and weekends.

Celebrating Diversity and Honoring Unity will be the theme of all of the panel discussions to be held at MidAmerica Nazarene University's Bell Cultural Events Center, 2030 E. College Way, Olathe. The series is free and open to the public.

U.S. Senator Sam Brownback on Tuesday, May 27, will attend a town hall meeting in Olathe, Kansas. Brownback plans to discuss the economy, energy and the environment.

The 3rd annual Americana Jubilee will take place at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm, 1100 N. Kansas City Rd. This free, family friendly event, features a variety of cultural entertainment, ethnic foods, an interative children's area featuring crafts and activities from around the world, and a number of booths focusing on culture, service and historical contributions. City of Olathe Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility

The City of Olathe, including the Municipal Services and Police Departments, will host a community shredding event offering Olathe residents the opportunity to safely dispose of documents containing personal or sensitive information such as canceled checks, bank statements and credit card receipts.
The event will be held in conjunction with the June HHW drop-off event . This service will be offered free to Olathe residents. Cintas will provide the shredding service.
