Nov. 24 - Dec. 31 | Nightly beginning at 5:30 p.m. | Stagecoach Park

The entertaining light show is on display nightly at Stagecoach Park. Enjoy the dazzle of more than 40,000 lights and 16 million color combinations. The festive drive-up show will be filled with animation, elves, and music through your vehicle radio on FM 100.9. Don’t miss the chance to take an “elfie” with elf guides Jingle, Jangle, and Judy. The 2017 show will run through New Year’s Eve. Enjoy the display Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Donations benefit the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund.

Kick off the holiday season with the annual Celebrate Olathe and Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, Dec. 1, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Olathe Community Center. Join Mayor Michael Copeland and special guest Joe Lauria, Fox 4 meteorologist, as they light the Mayor’s Christmas tree at 6:15 p.m. Then, enjoy an evening of music, face painting, free activities, and a visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Joey the Elf! Local food trucks will sell food throughout the night. Follow event updates on Facebook.

  • 6 p.m. - Doors open
  • 6:15 p.m. - Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting with Mayor Michael Copeland and special guest Joe Lauria, Fox 4 meteorologist
  • 6:30 p.m. - Music and activities throughout the Olathe Community Center
  • 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - Pictures with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Joey the Elf in the lobby
  • 6:45 p.m. - Choir performances
    • 6:45 to 7 p.m. – Olathe West High School
    • 7:05 to 7:20 p.m. – Oregon Trail Middle School

Start your Christmas season with a visit to Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop’s Christmas Open House on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can decorate a graham cracker gingerbread house, make Christmas crafts, and ride the stagecoach (weather and grounds permitting). Stagecoach rides $3/person ages 3 & up, making a gingerbread house is $4/house.

Christmas at Mahaffie Schedule 

  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Music by the Shady Grove String Band
  • 1 to 3 p.m. - Visit Santa in the Heritage Center
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Ornament Making and Gingerbread House Making
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - 1860s living history activities such as blacksmith and cookstove demonstrations, stringing popcorn and cranberries, and stagecoach rides (weather and ground permitting)
