What is there to see and do in June, July and August?
Explore the new exhibits in the new Heritage Center. I Knew it was a Fine Country tells the stories of the Mahaffie family, early Olathe and Johnson County, the western trails and stagecoach travel. The exhibit includes a 12 minute film offering more of the site's history. In June, July and August, Farmin' Fridays, Trailside Saturdays and Recreation Sundays offer different activities such as helping with farm chores, learning about travel on the Oregon, California and Santa Fe Trails or playing 19th century games. All activities, including stagecoach rides, are included with the admission! Here are some photos of our crops taken on June 8. Come explore Mahaffie and see how our farm is growing this summer!
Our garden has 19th Century heirloom vegetables.
The corn field has a type of 19th Century corn called Bloody Butcher. The color of the corn is red and the corn is a field corn, which will be fed to our livestock.
Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site graciously appreciates the support of the Olathe Chamber Convention and Visitors Bureau. |
