Both professional and amateur riders from across the Midwest will be coming to Olathe on July 31st through August 1st for Extreme Cowboy Racing. It's not quite a horse race or a rodeo, but extreme cowboy racing features incredibly skilled cowboys and horses.
The event is sponsored by renowned cowboy, Craig Cameron and is a part of the Extreme Cowboy Association Racing series. The "race" focuses primarily on horsemanship with a course designed with a series of obstacles that test both rider and horse. Riders are judged based on riding ability and performance with the final event including time. The sport is featured on RFD Television.
In addition to the race, traditional Mahaffie events are planned for children, and food vendors will be available. Clinics will be offered covering training young colts for obstacles, harnessing and driving horse teams.
Event tickets are $12 per day. Event schedules are as follows:
Friday, July 31st: Gates open at 3:00 p.m. with racing beginning at 4:00 p.m. for pro and non-pro riders.
