Dennis Avenue Bridge Construction to Begin March 3 -- Correction to contact's e-mail address

The City of Olathe's project to replace the Dennis Avenue Bridge over Little Cedar Creek in west Olathe is planned to begin on March 3, 2008.  The bridge will be closed to traffic until the project is completed in early to mid August.

The $5.9 million project will replace the current bridge, which was constructed in 1960, with a new four lane structure.  Though the Dennis Ave. Bridge remains safe for drivers, it is the city's lowest rated bridge based on federal bridge safety rating criteria.  As a result of those ratings, the project was eligible for $1.1 million in federal assistance.  Because of the bridge's age, current and future traffic use, and the bridge's condition, the project was a priority in the city's capital improvements program.

Residents with questions can contact Chris Bruntz, the project's manager, at 971-8570 or at cnbruntz@olatheks.org.

The City regrets any inconvenience.  The attached map provides alternate routes for drivers.
