Mahaffie partners with Hy-Vee on 119th and Ridgeview
Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm is partnering with Hy-Vee at 119th Street and Ridgeview Road for their annaul Springtime Party Store Contest. Each year, Hy-Vee stores decorate for the spring and have a corporate wide decorating competition. This year, Hy-Vee is having a theme of Western Trails and is using many decorations provided by Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm. Part of the week’s events include activities on Friday April 27 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mahaffie will offer stagecoach rides, 19th century games, blacksmith demonstrations and a Quick Draw contest. All activities are free and open to the public. Suggested donations for stagecoach rides are $2/person. Hy-Vee will have food available for purchase.
Mahaffie partners with Girl Scouts for Camptennial
Mahaffie will also be taking Mollie the calf to Timber Ridge Adventure Center on Saturday April 28 for the Girl Scout Camptennial. Girl Scouts is celebrating their 100th Anniversary in 2012 with activities throughout the year. The Camptennial is expecting to host over 700 Girl Scouts of all ages. Girl Scouts has been partnering with Mahaffie for different programs including Brownie Girl Scout Day, Bronze Awards for Junior Girl Scouts, and Girl Scouts have completed Silver and Gold Award projects.
Mahaffie sponsoring table for Olathe Public Library Spring Tea
Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm is decorating a table for the first Make Mine a Mystery Tea sponsored by the Friends of the Olathe Public Library. The Tea is Saturday April 28 at the Indian Creek Community Church in Olathe. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at either the Downtown Library or the Indian Creek Library. Mahaffie participating in Barnyard Babies event at Ag Hall of Fame
Mahaffie will be offering stagecoach rides at the National Agricultrual Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs, KS on Saturday April 28 for their event, Barnyard Babies. For more details, www.aghalloffame.com
Spring Living History Weekends
Mahaffie will be open Saturday April 28 and Sunday April 29. Living History activities may include blacksmithing and stagecoach rides both days. On Saturday, Mahaffie Matters presentations will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Admission is $6/adults, $4/children ages 5-11, Olathe residents receive $1 off. The Heritage Center only will be open Wednesdays through Fridays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plowin', Plantin' and Playin' on the Prairie is Saturday May 12. Visit www.mahaffie.org for details.
If you drive by the Mahaffie Farm, you may notice the fence turning white. Brownie Girl Scouts helped 'whitewash' or paint the front of the fence white during Brownie Girl Scout Day Saturday April 21. A big thank you to all who participated in whitewashing on Saturday!

Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site is operated by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Olathe. Open hours, stagecoach operations, living history activities, special events and programs vary seasonally. Access is limited in the winter months and the site is closed major holidays.
