Summer Living History Season Begins This Weekend
The Summer Living History season begins this weekend and will go through Labor Day Weekend. Living History activities may include blacksmithing, see what is cooking on Mrs. Mahaffie's cookstove and stagecoach rides. Activities will be Wednesday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4 p.m. Mahaffie Matters talks may be scheduled on the weekends. Stagecoach rides will be offered at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m, and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and on Sundays at 12:30 p.m, 1:30 p.m, 2:30 p.m, and 3:30 p.m. For up to date activities, www.mahaffie.org.
Senior Send Off
Mahaffie sends congratulations to three high school seniors. Becca Rentaria graduates from Olathe North High School and was part of the 21st Century program associated with the Olathe School District. During the school year, Becca worked at Mahaffie as part of her regular school schedule. She conducted many activities such as school programs, collections care and was featured in a volunteer news story in January in the Olathe News. She is going to Kansas State University in the fall. Gabby Hanna has been a volunteer at Mahaffie since 2008. She graduates from Olathe South High School and will attend the University of New Mexico in the fall. She was awarded the Carrie Newson Youth Volunteer Award in 2009. She has helped with Summer History Camp, Family Fun Nights, the Wild West Show and other events. Kyle Pretzl has been a volunteer at Mahaffie since 2004. He graduates from Midland Adventist Academy and has enlisted in the US Army, Kyle leaves for basic training in June. He was awarded the Carrie Newson Youth Volunteer Award in 2005. Kyle has helped with Summer History Camp, school programs, the Wild West Show and many other Civil War events. They have contributed over 1500 volunteer hours at Mahaffie and we look forward to having them volunteer when they are back home. We wish them the best of luck for their bright futures!

Mahaffie participates in Summer Reading Kick Off for the Olathe Public Library
The Olathe Public Library will host the Summer Reading Kick Off on Tuesday May 29 from 10 a.m. to noon at Frontier Park (Black Bob and Indian Creek Parkway). The Summer Reading Program is for kids and adults and the theme is Dream Big! Pick up your summer reading folder and stop by the Mahaffie booth to play 19th Century Games. Day Out with Frank and Ella
Preschools, day cares and other youth groups or individuals are invited to attend these drop-in summer fun sessions. Sessions are Wednesdays 9 a.m. to noon or Thursdays noon to 3 p.m. in June and July. Participants will enjoy a different theme each week with hands-on activities, crafts, a stagecoach ride (paying youth only) and must be accompanied by an adult. Family Fun Nights Begin Thursday June 7
Family Fun Nights begin Thursday June 7 and will continue through Thursday July 26. Mahaffie will stay open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with FREE admission, some activities require a small fee. For themes and details, click http://www.olatheks.org/Mahaffie/FamilyNights

Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site is operated by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Olathe. Open hours, stagecoach operations, living history activities, special events and programs vary seasonally. Access is limited in the winter months and the site is closed major holidays.
