Mahaffie to Host Homeschool Program Day September 16
Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm, 1200 Kansas City Rd., will host a homeschool program day September 16.  This will be an opportunity for the homeschool community to experience a Mahaffie school program without meeting the typically minimum attendance requirement of 20 students.

The program “Growing Up Victorian” gives students a chance to experience life as a child of the mid 1800s and includes farm chores and period games.  This program is recommended for students in pre-K to 2nd grades.  The “Wagons Ho!” program gives students a chance to pan for “gold,” explore a real prairie schooner, and find out more about the Oregon, California and Santa Fe Trails.  This program is recommended for students in 3rd-6th grades.  Both programs include a stagecoach ride.

Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the programs held 10 a.m. to noon.  Cost for the program is $5 per student.  Following the program, students and their families may stay to eat their picnic lunch and explore the grounds, Mahaffie house and Heritage Center exhibit for an additional $1.

Registration is limited to 80 participants per program.  Register by September 9 by sending your mailing address, phone number and the number of attending students in each program at (913) 971-5504.
