Season Kicks Off with Planting Event
Stagecoach Stop and Farm, 1200
Kansas City Rd., Olathe,
will kick off its spring season with the annual Plowin’ and Plantin’ event from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 2.
Visitors can get a hands-on look at springtime
on an 1860s farm. See how farmers would
prepare their crops, taste what is cooking on Mrs. Mahaffie's stove, take a
stagecoach ride and more! Some
activities are weather permitting.
Admission is $6/adults, $4/children ages 5-11, Olathe residents receive $1 off.
With the spring season comes the return of hands-on
living history activities, including stagecoach rides, and the historic
Mahaffie house will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from
noon to 4 p.m. The Heritage Center
only will be open Wednesdays through Fridays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Other upcoming spring activities now open for
registration are the Saturday, April 17 historic cemetery tours and the Sunday,
May 1 Mother’s Day Tea. Registration
also is available for Mahaffie’s Summer History Camps for kids entering grades
