Have a great time with your family for Fathers Day at Campout Next to the Bay! Grab your camping and cooking gear and head to Black Bob Park! The overnight campout will include planned activities and games, as well as swimming at Black Bob Bay. The camping fun will be for girls and boys ages 4-12 and their Dad and/or Mom. Campers will cook hotdogs over an open flame, make S’mores and enjoy a sing-along around the campfire. The Kids Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Cedar Lake Park, south of 151st Street on Lone Elm Road from 7:30 a.m. to Noon. Annually, this event draws approximately 650 youth participants and 975 adult spectators and volunteers. Registered participants receive a free T-shirt, goodie bag, and worms (while supplies last). A hot dog lunch with chips and a beverage is provided for everyone in attendance. Five trophies are awarded to participants in various age ranges and gender categories.
The Olathe FREE Summer Concert series began in 2000. Each year it showcases top quality, cutting edge artists featuring a variety of family friendly genres of music. Thanks to the support from the population at large and our generous sponsors, we are accomplishing that goal. Over the past 13 years the Olathe Parks and Recreation Department has presented local, regional, national and international performers.
