Fall Home School Day will be Thursday September 12. This program offers an opportunity for home school students to enjoy hands on activities with other home school families. Times are 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost is $5/home school student and accompanying adults are free. Registration is now closed. Please call 913.971.5111 if you have questions about registration. Payment is due the day of the program. Please allow 90 minutes for all activities. Park in the parking lot of the Heritage Center to to pick up your map of activities when you arrive.

The City of Olathe sponsors Farmers' Market to provide a means by which individuals may sell primarily regionally grown fresh produce and/or plants and fresh flowers. The intent of the market is to offer primarily for retail sale only produce that can be grown in this geographic area and is not refined and/or made into another product.

Grandparents receive FREE admission with each paid grandchild admission. Enjoy a stagecoach ride, see what is cooking on the cookstove and fill out a Family Tree. Linda Johnston, author of Home Amid Hardship: Pioneer Voices from Kansas Territory will be hosting a special book signing. She was a docent at Mahaffie in the late 1980s and used her time at Mahaffie as inspiration for research for her book. Admission is $4/grandchild and Olathe residents receive $1/off admission.

The third annual COUNTRY Chef Challenge returns to the Olathe Farmers’ Market at 9 a.m. August 24th and 31st. Teams will create original dishes using ingredients from Olathe's very own Famers Market.  A panel of local celebrity judges will determine the winning two-student team, which will be awarded $1,400.
