The Kids Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Cedar Lake Park, south of 151st Street on Lone Elm Road from 7:30 a.m. to Noon. Annually, this event draws approximately 650 youth participants and 975 adult spectators and volunteers. Registered participants receive a free T-shirt, goodie bag, and worms (while supplies last). A hot dog lunch with chips and a beverage is provided for everyone in attendance. Five trophies are awarded to participants in various age ranges and gender categories.
The Olathe FREE Summer Concert series began in 2000. Each year it showcases top quality, cutting edge artists featuring a variety of family friendly genres of music. Thanks to the support from the population at large and our generous sponsors, we are accomplishing that goal. Over the past 13 years the Olathe Parks and Recreation Department has presented local, regional, national and international performers.

The City of Olathe sponsors Farmers' Market to provide a means by which individuals may sell primarily regionally grown fresh produce and/or plants and fresh flowers. The intent of the market is to offer primarily for retail sale only produce that can be grown in this geographic area and is not refined and/or made into another product.

Chris Cakes will be there with all you can eat Chris Cakes Pancakes and Sasuage for only $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under 12! Kids 2 and under eat free. In addition, there is an autograph session featuring local celebrities and our HEROES and a 2 mile walk along a paved path canopied in trees alongside a brook and over a beautiful wooden bridge!
