Due to overwhelming interest in community gardening, the City has re-opened the first location at Loula and Water as garden space beginning in 2013. There will be an additional 25 to 30 plots available for gardeners. This location will be in addition to the current garden located on Santa Fe & Pine St.
2013 will be the 10th anniversary of the Olathe Community Garden. The Garden was started in the fall of 2003 by a cooperative effort of the City of Olathe and the Original Old Town Neighborhood group. Land at the corner of Loula and Water was prepared as part of an Eagle Scout project and the first crops were planted in the spring of 2004. In 2007 the garden was moved to a larger and more permanent site located on the northwest corner of Santa Fe & Pine St.. Planting started in the spring of 2008.
