Olathe Parks & Recreation presents Summer Teen Bash on Thursday, July 28, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Black Bob Park and Black Bob Bay. Check-in begins at 6:45 p.m. The event is open to students entering grades 6-9. The event is free with the donation of any school supply item. School supplies collected at the event will benefit the Olathe Public Schools Foundation. The evening will include games, activities in the park, swimming, prize drawings, and more! Visitors to Water Works Park, Parkview Manor, and the community gardens may notice a few more monarch butterflies during their visit this summer. A total of 55 new butterfly-friendly plants have been planted around the community thanks to a donation from Bridging the Gap in Kansas City. »

Celebrate Olathe – Summer Fest, an afternoon and evening filled with free music and activities, will take place on Saturday, July 9, at Stagecoach Park, 1205 E. Kansas City Rd. Activities and music begin at 2 p.m. and continue through the evening with Beatles tribute band Liverpool taking the stage at 7 p.m. Free parking and shuttles will be available at Olathe North High School, 600 E. Prairie St. »

A large leak at Frontier Pool has been located and repairs are underway. Staff will soon begin the process to fill, treat, prepare, and clean the pool. An open date is still to be determined. Frontier Pool remains closed as crews work to repair a leak. All first session swim lessons scheduled at Frontier Pool will be moved to Oregon Trail Pool. Those enrolled will be contacted by City staff to discuss enrollment options. »
