Community input is a valuable tool in this process and we’re asking for your help as we establish priorities for the future improvement of parks, recreation facilities, programs and services within the Olathe community. Please consider attending an upcoming focus group or community forum on Sept. 30, Oct. 1 & Oct. 3. We are hosting focus groups and community forums, these opportunities will help our staff as we work to develop the vision and plan for our system. »

Fido & Me is back for the fall starting Wed., Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Black Bob Park. This free weekly program brings together dogs and their humans for a great evening walk with friends. Each week a staff member Camp Bow Wow, an Olathe Park & Recreation partner, will lead the group from the Black Bob park basketball court on the trail for a little fun and exercise. No sign-up required, just meet at the basketball courts with your favorite dog and leash. For more information call 971-8563. »

Join us in a community event when Too Cool to Drool returns Sunday, Sept. 8 at Black Bob Bay. You and your favorite pups are invited to a dog-only swim to close out another great aquatics season. Small dogs, 25 pounds or less, have the pool to themselves at 1 p.m. Bigger dogs can join at 2 p.m. »

Pool Hour Changes for August Announced: The school year is gearing up and many of our lifeguards are heading back to college or starting their fall sports. Due to staffing availability, the remaining hours of operation for the 2013 aquatics season have been determined. »

Olathe’s best kept secret lies on the eastern edge of the city limits. Heatherstone Park is tucked away along Pflumm Road between 119th and 127th streets. Chances are, people drive by it frequently and may not even realize it is there. However, this neighborhood park is worth finding and has much to offer. »
