The City of Olathe, Olathe Medical Center, K-State Extension, K-State Olathe and members of the Faith Community have joined together to form the Community Garden Partnership. The focus of this partnership is to introduce the Olathe community to the wide-variety of personal and communal gardening opportunities throughout the city. Currently, the partnership is working with 5 established gardens and a sixth garden that will be available for the 2014 growing season. »

Register Now for Winter Break Lifeguard Training Olathe Parks and Recreation will offer two training opportunities during the winter break. Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instruction classes will be held on December 27 and 28 and January 2 and 3. If you are interested in lifeguarding for Olathe Parks and Recreation this summer or when the Olathe Community Center opens in July, don’t miss this great opportunity. When more than a few inches of snow falls, it can be a chore for anyone to clean drives and sidewalks, but it can be especially challenging for elderly individuals or for those with disabilities. To address the special needs of Olathe residents, the Olathe Snow Brigade program provides snow removal help by matching volunteers to qualified residents who need assistance. »

Community input is a valuable tool in this process and we’re asking for your help as we establish priorities for the future improvement of parks, recreation facilities, programs and services within the Olathe community.
