When more than a few inches of snow falls, it can be a chore for anyone to clean drives and sidewalks, but it can be especially challenging for elderly individuals or for those with disabilities. To address the special needs of Olathe residents, the Olathe Snow Brigade program provides snow removal help by matching volunteers to qualified residents who need assistance.
The program needs more Snow Brigade volunteers to fulfill the requests for the service. Volunteers are asked to assist if there is a storm of two inches or more and provide snow removal within 24 to 48 hours after the snow stops falling.
The City of Olathe also coordinate volunteers who assist with Operation Lifeline, Volunteers in the Parks, Adopt-A-Street and many other volunteer-based programs.
