Celebrate Olathe

You're invited to Celebrate Olathe and the opening of the Olathe Community Center (1205 E Kansas City Road) Thursday, July 3rd. 

This free and fun night starts at 4 p.m. with free games, food, activities for all ages and 19th Century Fireworks! The Olathe Community Center will be open for tours & Mahaffie will have activities throughout the day and evening.

Schedule of Events:

  • 4 p.m. - Activities & Food begin - Enjoy hot dogs & hamburgers from Hy-Vee and finish off with dessert from Kona Ice & The Funnel Cake Truck. Play field day games and participate in hands-on demonstrations and activities around the Olathe Community Center.
  • 6 p.m. - Join Walk-n-Roll and decorate your bike, scooter or wagon before you take off! Want to go by foot? No problem Walk or Run the trail and support the Olathe Parks & Recreation Foundation Scholarship fund. 
  • 6 p.m. - 1860s Baseball on the west-side of the community center grounds.
  • 7:30 p.m.: Concert by the Olathe Civic Band
  • 8:30 p.m.: Cowboy Costume Contest
  • 8:45 p.m.: Music by the Gum Springs Serenaders  
  • 9:15 p.m.: Reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by a cannon firing
  • 9:30 p.m.: 19th Century Fireworks


Parking will be available at Olathe North High School, 600 E Prairie with shuttles running to Mahaffie and the center starting at 3:30 p.m. throughout the evening. The last shuttle will leave Mahaffie at 10:30 p.m.


Please note, the Olathe Community Center will have alternate hours on July 3 for the grand opening celebration. The center will be open for normal use 5:30 a.m. to Noon, closed noon to 4 p.m. and will open for tours and grand opening activities from 4-8 p.m.
