Pardon Our Progress

Our parks construction crews are busy making improvements to various parks in our system. This page will keep you up-to-date on current construction projects throughout the Olathe Parks and Recreation system. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to new and exciting features.

Park development at 116th and Greenwood

Construction on the park at 116th and Greenwood in the Santa Marta area continues to make progress.  The City construction crew continues to develop the park with a concrete walking trail, picnic shelter, playground and open play lawn.  Seeding, sodding and the playground installation will occur in the fall of 2014.

Tennis court lights will be replaced at Mill Creek Park.  Capital Electric was awarded the contract to install new Musco Lights at the tennis court.  These lights will be more efficient and cost effective for the parks and recreation system.  The courts will be closed during this construction.  It is anticipated that the work will take 7-10 working days to complete.  All work should be completed by the middle of Sept.

The existing playground at Prairie Center Park will be removed and replaced with a new playground in the fall of 2014.  There will also be a new playground installed on the northern section of the site just south of the baseball field complex and west of the parking lot.  Both playgrounds are expected to be completed in 2014.

A generous donation by an Olathe family, asked that their donation be used to expand the play ground at Brougham Park.  This playground addition will occur in the fall of 2014.

The City currently has a project scheduled to remove and reconstruct the trail at Two Trails Park.  Construction should occur in September and October, 2014.  The park will be open during this construction, but the trail will be closed.
