A licensed mental health professional responds to calls for service, with officers, that involve the need for mental health intervention which may include:

• helping to de-escalate an individual who is in distress
• clinically assessing the need for immediate mental health services, such as hospitalization
• providing information to the individual and their family about mental health resources available in the community.
