The Olathe Fire Department's Explorer Post 2884 is a coed program affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America. The program was founded in 1991 and developed for youth ages 14-20.

Explorers:

  • Help the Olathe Fire Department with community service.
  • Complete a six-month training program to learn about the Olathe Fire Department and prepare themselves for a career in the fire service.
  • Attend meetings every two weeks, which provides them with instruction in areas such as emergency operations, fire tactics, emergency medical services and public education.
  • Receive opportunities to "ride-along" with firefighters.
  • Get advice from Olathe firefighters who help them develop the skills they need to become a firefighter.
