Celebrate Olathe and Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 1

Kick off the holiday season with the annual Celebrate Olathe and Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, Dec. 1, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Olathe Community Center (1205 E. Kansas City Rd.).

Join Mayor Michael Copeland and special guest Joe Lauria, Fox 4 meteorologist, as they light the Mayor’s Christmas tree at 6:15 p.m. Then, enjoy an evening of music, face painting, free activities, and a visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Joey the Elf! Local food trucks will sell food throughout the night. Free shuttle service will be available at Olathe North High School (600 E. Prairie St.). Follow event updates on Facebook.

Schedule of events:

  • 6 p.m. - Doors open
  • 6:15 p.m. - Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting with Mayor Michael Copeland and special guest Joe Lauria, Fox 4 meteorologist
  • 6:30 p.m. - Music and activities throughout the Olathe Community Center
  • 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - Pictures with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Joey the Elf in the lobby
  • 6:45 p.m. - Choir performances:
    • 6:45 to 7 p.m. – Olathe West High School
    • 7:05 to 7:20 p.m. – Oregon Trail Middle School
    • 7:25 to 7:40 p.m. – Meadow Lane Elementary
